October 4 & 5 Registration FAQs – you asked and we are answering

With our joint Bike Index Registration Drive with the Calgary Police Service just around the corner on October 4 & 5 at East Village RiverWalk Plaza, our DMs have been buzzing with questions.

To help everyone get their rides protected, here are the answers to the top questions we’ve been receiving—plus a quick call for an extra set of hands!

1. “I can’t make it to East Village on October 4 or 5. How can I get an Calgary Police Service Bike Index sticker?”

Don’t worry, you won’t miss out! You have two ways to get your sticker:

• By Mail: Register your bike online at Bike Index. Once completed, email us a screenshot of your registered bike profile along with your mailing address, and we will mail an Bike Index sticker to you!

• At Our Next Event: If you prefer in-person registration, mark your calendar for mid-February 2027! We will be hosting our next public registration drive during Winter Bike Week.

2. “I bought a used bike recently, but I’m not sure if it was registered or if the seller was the legal owner. How do I check?”

Navigating secondary market purchases can sometimes leave room for uncertainty and that’s why we started the bike swaps. The easiest solution? Bring the bike down to RiverWalk Plaza on October 4 or 5! The Police and we will audit the serial number to help you determine its status, and guide you through registering it under your name cleanly and legally.

We Need 1–2 More Volunteers!

We didn’t think we’d be putting out another call for help, but looking at our social media metrics, Calgary cyclists are coming out in full force for this event!

To make sure line-ups move quickly and every rider gets logged without delay, we are looking for 1 or 2 additional volunteers to join our team on October 4 & 5.

• What you’ll do: Help cyclists capture serial numbers, assist with basic online form entry, and apply frame decals.

• Requirements: Friendly attitude, basic smartphone or tablet comfort, and a love for the local cycling community!
