More than a Decade of Pedaling Together: Our Strategic Alliance with Bike Calgary

A lot has changed in the Calgary cycling scene, but one thing has remained constant: the unwavering support between Alberta Bike Swap and Bike Calgary.

Bike Calgary is the leading advocacy voice for cyclists in our city. They are a volunteer-run non-profit dedicated to making Calgary a safe, accessible, and enjoyable place for everyone to ride a bike—whether they are eight years old or eighty.

This isn’t just a strategic alliance on paper; it’s a strategic alliance of presence. For over 10 years, we’ve been boots on the ground for each other. We show up for each other in the freezing cold of winter for @bikecalgary Winter Bike Day and they have a table for the high energy of our Calgary bike swap:

Winter Bike Day: You’ll find Alberta Bike Swap supporting Bike Calgary’s annual celebration of year-round riding. We believe there’s no such thing as off-season, just different gear!

Calgary Bike Swap: Every year, Bike Calgary joins us at our Calgary bike swap event. They are there to chat with new bike owners and provide resources on how to navigate our city’s growing pathway network.

Bike Calgary works with the City of Calgary to ensure that the people who buy bikes at our swaps have safe lanes and paths to ride them on. They are champions for infrastructure, snowplowing, and policy change.

We appreciate Bike Calgary because they are reliable, passionate, and deeply rooted in the community. Over the last 20 years, we’ve watched them grow and evolve, always keeping the needs of the everyday cyclist at the forefront. We are honoured to have spent years in their corner, and we look forward to many more years.
