Bike Index Registration Events: Heritage Park & East Village RiverWalk Plaza

  • News

As Alberta’s official Bike Index and Project 529 Ambassadors, Alberta Bike Swap is dedicated to providing practical, community-level theft prevention solutions. Registering your bicycle creates a permanent, searchable digital record of ownership that deters buyers of stolen property and assists law enforcement in returning recovered bikes to their rightful owners.

This fall, we are hosting two Bike Index registration drives in Calgary, and we invite cyclists, volunteers, and community advocates to join us!

Upcoming Event Schedule

1. Bike-a-Palooza at Heritage Park

  • Date: September 20, 2026

  • Location: Heritage Park, Calgary

  • MLA Nagwan Al-Guneid

Join us at Heritage Park for a celebration of active transportation! Stop by our registration station to get your bike logged into the global database and receive your sticker.

2. East Village RiverWalk Plaza Registration Clinic

  • Dates: October 4 & October 5, 2026

  • Location: RiverWalk Plaza, East Village (along the Bow River pathway)

We are setting up along one of Calgary’s busiest multi-use pathways! Whether you are out for a weekend recreation ride or commuting through downtown, pull over for five minutes and let our team get your bike fully registered.

Three Ways You Can Participate

  1. Register Your Bicycle: Bring your bike down to either event! Having your serial number, make, model, and photos logged in Bike Index and Project 529 gives you maximum protection against theft.

  2. Volunteer With Us: Events like these rely on passionate community members. If you’d like to spend a few hours helping us check serial numbers, assist with digital logging, we would love to have you volunteer with us.

  3. Promote the Event: Help us build a safer cycling community by sharing our event announcements on social media, telling your riding partners, and encouraging your colleagues to register their bikes.

We glanced at other cyclist while cycle commuting in January 2005, spoke at the bike racks, and we’ve been together since.
