9 Days to Go to Calgary Bike Swap: Investing in the Next Generation
We’re 9 days away from the Calgary Bike Swap and 39 days to Calgary Climate Week—and today is about the next generation.
For over 15 years, Alberta Bike Swap has worked with students across Alberta to apply their skills to real-world challenges.
We’ve mentored students from:
- SAIT (digital technology)
- MacEwan University (web design)
- Mount Royal University (communications)
- University of Calgary Haskayne School of Business (MBA students)
- Google Developer Group participants
These aren’t theoretical projects—students work on real operational problems, real systems, and real community impact.
Recently:
- A computer science student, Aditya M, developed Wheelie Good Price—a program designed to reduce one of the operational bottlenecks at our events
- MacEwan web design students redesigned our website (implementation pending as we prioritize event delivery)
This is what applied learning looks like: solving real problems in active community systems.
As part of Calgary Climate Week—a city-wide platform connecting ideas with action—Chris will also be speaking about CAN-BIKE, Canada’s only nationally recognized and standardized cycling education program.
For us, the future isn’t abstract—it’s already participating.
9 days to go.
