Restoring Freedom: Our Work with #NotInMyCity and #HerVictory

Being an Albertan means looking out for one another. At Alberta Bike Swap, we leverage the Circular Economy to support those among us who are rebuilding their lives. Recently, we were honoured to partner with #NotInMyCity and Her Victory to provide survivors of sexual exploitation and human trafficking with upcycled bicycles, giving them a tangible means of independence.

We believe that a bicycle isn’t just a machine; it can be a tool for restoration, freedom, and a new beginning for those who have faced the unimaginable. 

For a woman in recovery or a survivor reclaiming her autonomy, a bike represents more than exercise—it represents reliable transportation to a job, to school, or to a support meeting. It represents the freedom to move through the world on her own terms.

• The Power of Two: Chris personally tech-checked and repaired these donated bikes to ensure they met the highest safety standards and these bikes will get directly into the hands of those who need them most.

Alberta Values: We don’t just swap bikes; we invest in the social fabric of our province. By supporting the incredible work of Paul Brandt’s national organization #NotInMyCity and the transformative programs at Her Victory, we are standing against exploitation.
