Adaptive Mobility: Our Strategic alliance with CP Kids & Families
Mobility is not one-size-fits-all. For many Albertans, a standard bicycle isn’t an option, but an adaptive bike can be life-changing. Our Strategic alliance with CP Kids & Families (Cerebral Palsy Kids and Families) ensures that these specialised, high-impact tools find their way to the families who need them most.
CP Kids & Families is a cornerstone of the Calgary disability community. Through their Adapted Bike Program, they provide children and adults with physical disabilities the chance to experience the joy of cycling. They don’t just provide a bike; they provide a tailored mechanical solution for independence.
Our Strategic alliance with CP Kids & Families is one of the most vital partnerships we maintain. Because they are the only legitimate group in Calgary dedicated to rebuilding and supporting adaptive bikes, they are our priority partner for donated assets. This ensures that specialised equipment reaches the people who truly need it to experience the freedom of mobility.
We have a First Dibs Policy: At Alberta Bike Swap, we have a strict policy: CP Kids & Families always gets first dibs on our donated bikes.
- Specialised Expertise: They are legitimately the only group in Calgary equipped to rebuild and support adaptive bikes and the individuals who use them. They also support continued care of the people that use these bikes/
- The Right Tool for the Job: By funneling donated specialised equipment to them, we ensure these bikes are maintained and utilised rather than sitting idle.
We value precision, continuity of care, and legitimacy. We provide the bikes, and CP Kids & Families provides the expert mechanical customisation. This is the Circular Economy at its most inclusive—ensuring that the cycle of mobility includes everyon
